My husband is always amused at how much women watch each other and size up what other women are wearing. As I'm never trying to look too "normal", he often tells me about other women who were checking out something I've got on. It is interesting when we go to the sports bar where we watch NBA or NFL or March Madness amidst the energy of sports fans. I did have my Kentucky Blue colors on, it was just my style and via some Steel Pony.

Sometimes, I do notice the "what does she have on" look sometimes, but I also catch the "I wish I had the nerve" look, too. I say spread the love and encourage more women to get in touch with who they really are. And, bottom line, you have to feel like you when you walk out the door.

Cynthia- the sweater you bought has 2 buttonholes. One on each end of the "collar". You use the random buttons to close the cardigan. Some will work for you and some won't but it is a creatively minded sweater so you need to use your imagination. I will post a video on you tube to demonstrate how you can wear it. I will post here once it is up.

I have never "blogged" anyone/anywhere/any how so here goes.....I have recently purchased a piece of Steel Pony that may possibly be from last yr (or before). I thought it was simply spectacular when I got it; however, I have no idea how it's to be worn. It looks like it may be of the same "collection" as the current Big Collar Cardigan...color (a light mottled moss green) & knit & overall look. It has random large buttons attached with ribbons, but there is a button hole with no "home" at the top neck. Should anyone!!! have a clue which "sweater/top" I am describing, & knows how it's to be worn, I would appreciate any & all clues!

First of all, I love Steel Pony and about half of my personal wardrobe is Steel Pony. I am a struggling boutique owner who has been in business for 15 years. Although I have a website and sell on the web, I recently had to close my brick & mortar store due to increasing retail rents and the state of the US economy. The mission of my store was to keep my product line 85% Made in the USA and eco-conscious. This was not easy given how much is made in China and Asia.
I sell some of giftware and jewelry in a jewelry store that specializes in "fine jewelry" (gold & diamonds). It is appalling to me how much of this jewelry is made in China and the extremely high markup. What I have discovered is that this economy is not affecting the very rich but most of these people are very conservative and designer brand conscious. They do not ask and do not seem to care where something is made as long as it can be identified as some expensive designer piece. They are sheep that want to be part of the crowd

Steel Pony makes unique wearable ART and infortunately there are not enough of the rich out there who want to be different and unique.

When I closed my brick and mortar store recently, an old friend who only wears Loiuis Vuitton, David Yurman, Vera Bradley, etc. told me that I was closing because I insisted on selling what I want instead of what everyone else wants. She felt that no one wants different and funky. Made in the USA unfortunately has a limited audience in the USA!

This is a wonderful idea! I think she does support small designers, and I bet this would be successful. Joan Mondale did wonders for potters when her husband was VP, ordering handthrown place settings by John Glick for the VP Mansion. Helen

Thanks for your nice comment about the Wearable Art Blog! Like you, I want to get more people excited about and buying high quality hand made clothing and jewelry. I write the Wearable Art Blog to get the word out and promote talented artists, like Steel Pony.
Regarding your earlier post about Michelle Obama, one idea is to write to her and tell her about the many talented artists like yourself who are making beautiful creations, not just big name fashion designers. Keep up the good work.
