7 Tips for Summer Dressing

We are now in the Dog Days of Summer. We all want to be comfortable and cool right? In addition, being stylish is also important. Here are some tips to keep you looking great and feeling great.

1) Wear light color clothing

Dark colors absorb the light and heat so when choosing make sure you go with the lighter shades which reflects the light. It will keep you feeling fresh longer.

2) Opt for Sleeveless or wider sleeves

I love sleeveless for the hot months but I know that many of you like to cover your arms. If you must wear sleeves then the looser the better to keep air flow.

3) Wear loose Clothing

Air Flow is the key to cool so when you wear things loose it tends to be more comfortable. Even on the stickiest days.

4) Upgrade your Leisurewear

Yoga wear

Most casual workout wear is made of microfiber so not only is it hot but it is really awful for the environment. Opt for natural fibers here and lighter colors. Ditch those black leggings for now.

5) Choose Breathable Fabrics

It may not matter during the rest of the year, but you’ll definitely notice the difference between breathable fabrics and fabrics that trap moisture during the summer. Synthetics usually aren’t breathable, so check clothing labels to make sure your clothes are 100 percent linen, cotton, or silk. If you want to play with texture, try eyelet and seersucker.

6) Ditch the Jeans

Denim is one of the heaviest fabrics out there. If your jeans have lycra then that will make them even warmer. Go for pants that are Light like a light Linen or cotton knit and also that are not fitted in the leg. Wide leg pants are stylish and flattering. Go for a crop, it is the perfect time for those.

7) Rely on Dresses and Skirts

Again, for air flow the best thing to do is not wear pants at all. Dresses and skirts that are flowy not only are more comfortable but here is where you can make the Boho in you come out. I love a long flowy skirt with a tank top. Accent it with a statement necklace and you are good to go.
